Antique Coal Miners Cap Mining Hat

I got this miners cap at a estate sale, I don't know a lot about it, there are no marking on it, so I'm unsure of the maker or age. I believe it is some type of leather or canvas with some type of coating on it, there is a small chip on the side, you can feel the soft material under it, there is a piece of leather riveted on the inside for extra protection, it has a dent in the back of it, so I don't think it is fiberglass or it would have cracked, also the bill has a little warp to it, I'm pretty sure it is either canvas or leather with a coating to make it hard.
