    Description

This is a remarkable Bronze standing 15 inches (380mm) tall. The Kaiser Wilhelm I is considered by many to be the "Flagship" of Gladenbeck's table-top bronzes. Cast circa 1890 by the Aktiengesellschaft Herman Gladenbeck & Sohne in Berlin. The Gladenbeck foundry was considered as the Tiffany of bronze foundries during it's 50 year existence (1873-1926) and was chosen as the foundry to cast contemporary sculptures of the German Emperors Wilhelm I and Wilhelm II
The Gladenbeck foundry cast several of the world's finest statues still in existence; among them, the figure of "Victoria" which stands above the victory column in Berlin's Tiergartenstrasse , the Confederate memorial (ca. 1913) in Arlington National cemetery and "The three dancing maidens" in the conservatory garden of New York's central park.
This bronze stands upon a marble base with the casting mark "Aktien Gesellschaft H. Gladenbeck & Sohne" in script along the left side rear. The scupture's signature appears at left side front.
My photos will illustrate the fine attention to detail such as the
