    Folio size original hand colored lithographs of American Indians, created by Thomas McKenney and James Hall based on oil paintings by Charles Bird King(1785-1862) for their three volume set ''History of the Indian Tribes of North America'' (1837-44).

    from THE HISTORY OF INDIAN TRIBES OF NORTH AMERICA FROM THE INDIAN GALLERY by Thomas McKenney.
    Print is in Good antique condition as shown in photos with some minor discoloration.
    This lithograph was published by E.C. Biddle in 1837.
    This lithograph is one of a series that documents an important part of American history, the great leaders of the Indian nations that have disappeared since the mid-19th century. Most of the original paintings from which these lithographs are based burned in a devastating fire in the Smithsonian in 1865.
