NAPOLEON BONAPARTE, Emperor of France, exceptional manuscript document signed dated October 24th 1813 during his German campaign from the
province
of Erfurt. The document is written in French and signed just 6 months before his abdication from the French throne. Napoleon signs in his typical style as "NP" at the bottom of the document.

With an Imperial decree, Napoleon lists here the names of military figures to be appointed Knights of the Order of the Iron Crown, an order created by himself in 1805 after his coronation as King of Italy.
This chivalric order of merit was divided into three classes, consisting of 20 grand cross knights, 100 commander knights, and 500 ordinary knights.
Document reads in part:
“…Art 1. Sont nommés Commandeurs de l’ordre de la Couronne le Sr. Moroni Général de Brigade au service de notre Royaume d’Italie. Buffon, chef de Bataillon (…) Sont nommés Chevaliers de l’ordre de la couronne de fer les Sr. Locatelli, Inspecteur aux Revues au service du Roy.e d’Italie. Bersaldi, Major d’artillerie chef de D[ivisio].n au Ministère de la Guerre…”.
