Vintage rare masterpiece published Pictorial Maps Inc., New York Map-Guide circa 1963 designed by Hermann Bollman in original packaging. Almost 50 years later and 'The Use-It-Now Souvenir' Bag is sealed never opened - amazing! Map sold at 1964 World's Fair. 48 pp. first edition. The map is one of the most monumental cartographic feats of the 20th century with Bollmann’s bird’s-eye view of central Manhattan. Includes some descriptive text in French, German, Italian, Spanish and Japanese. Also includes ads for many Manhattan businesses, corporations, restaurants and hotels. Bollmann spent many years designing and executing this great feat incorporating over 67,000 photos with 17,000 from the air. The actual drawings were done by hand. Prior to WWII Bollmann was well-known woodcut artist and engraver. After the war he created similar maps for numerous cities around world.
